I did a frame up build on my CJ 7. I purchased a new tub and fenders and hood as well has a windshield frame. And it was on! Every part on my Jeep came from 4WD. When I started it was a rusted busted bucket. When I took my girlfriend to see it, she just shook her head in disbelief. Obviously she didn’t see the potential. LOL. I’m no pro by any means but everyone that sees it, thinks it looks great.

I started working on installing the mud guards from Husky Liners today and right before it started raining, I was able to have at least the rear guards installed. Using only a few simply tools, the whole procedure lasted me one hour.

Here is a list of things you will need to complete this installation:
1) Drill (corded or cordless)
2) Extension cord (corded drill)
3) 1/8 inch drill bit
4) Phillips Drill bit attachment
5) Small Phillips Screw driver
6) Right Angle Phillips Screw Driver
7) Sharp Tool Used For Marking Drill Points
Husky Liner’s Mud Guards (Custom Fit)

Although it’s probably recommended that you remove the tires as your working on each area to install each mud guard, I was able to do this installation without removing the rear tires. Granted at times, it was a very tight fit on the last two (inner most) last screws. Because the tire was in the way.

Image Attached: The before shot of the left rear (drivers side/forward view) bumper area where the mud guard would be installed

Image Attached: Drivers side rear view Bumper area where the guard would be installed.

Holding the mud guard firmly against the fender flare, which can then be used as a template to mark the holes. Holding the guard flush and very close to the molded bumper area or using a hand spring clamp, mark the four holes with a sharp object. (Pencil or pen would not mark clearly enough to leave a good impression) At this point, I used a sharpened 6 penny nail.

Note: It’s recommended that you pre-drill the holes before attempting to fastening or tightening the included hardware screws or the screws may enter plastic at a weird angle and distorting the hole.

After marking the holes.. you can then proceed to drill out the four holes using the 1/8 inch drill bit. You don’t have to be perfect or drill the holes completely all the way through. Just allow the drill bit to penetrate the plastic molded area of the bumper. Leaving the plastic burs intact, this allows the screws to latch onto the bumper area and cause a firm grip or a tight screw connection.

Once the four holes have been drilled out or started, You can place the mud guard onto the fender flare and thumb tighten the hardware screws. The large washer black screws are ideal for these types of applications allowing for a tight fit and covering or dispersing the coverage area with a very professional finish and appearance.

Tightening the screws was simple for the outer most screws.. I was able to us a Phillips head attachment for my Drill (while set at it’s lowest speed). If your drill is not set to a lower setting, you may risk distorting or stripping out the Phillips screw head. The last two screws (inner most) were a bit more difficult, not have enough room to work. Again at this point removing the tire would have made this installations easier.

The right angle Phillips screw drive was a slow process, but I was able to tighten the screw just enough to get the smaller Phillips screw driver onto and between the tire and mud guard. I was very surprised at how well the supplied screws held the mud guards in place. Gripping the plastic guards as well as the fender flares, without the use of metal clips..

Image Attached: The After shot of the left rear (drivers side/forward view) bumper area where the mud guard was installed. Clean with a very professional looking fit.

Image Attached: Drivers side rear view Bumper area. I really like the fact that these Mud guards are extra wide or wider then most normal after market mug guards.. this isn’t your run of the mill, slap it one mud guards either.

While I was installing these mud guards, another Jeep owner came driving down the ally in his silver Sahara, which had the OEM side steps and I asked if I could verify the fit for the front mud guards.. I was looking to see if the mud guards would fit between the fender and the side steps.. Perfect.. they will fit.

So if you install these mud guards.. Later, you can then allot for nerf bars or the OEM side step made by Mopar. I personally would rather install the OEM side steps instead of the rounded or tubular nerf bars.

When I get another nice day, I’ll continue my Husky Liners Mud Guard Installation.. So stay tuned..

I bought my jeep new last year and it was perfect right from the beginning BUT there was one small problem, everywhere I looked the same black jeep was driving by. So I had to take matters into my own hands. I then decided that I was going to make some modifications. I started for a fab four front bumper, which was a nice start. Then I had to make her higher to be able to do some serious climbing. I then had a four inch pro comp lift kit added plus some 18 inch rims and 35 inch tires. By this time my black betsy was looking mean. Then my hubby gave me some 500 watt each halogen lights to stick on the front of my bumper. No more afraid of the dark!
So now that the outside is done to my liking I am beginning the journal on modifying under the hood.
Over all my jeep is the best thing I’ve ever bought!

When we met we both had bone stock TJ’s, My now fiance introduced me to 4wd hardware. After that the downward spiral began. We started off with bumpers, which then a winch was needed. The added weight of the winch meant we needed a budget boost. Then after the budget boost the stock rims and tires didn’t look quite right. So on went a set of rims and 31′s. Then we noticed the jeep didn’t quite move as well as it use too. Then we put an intake kit, cat back exhaust, and programmer. The pictures are our engagement pictures, we love that jeep more than any other vehicle we own.

2012 Trip to Gunnison, Colorado. Don’t remember the name of the mountain but one could see forever. Something like 13K feet. My grandson has asked me if we were in 4 wheel drive as we were climbing. Even though it was over rocks and such, I told him “No, not yet.” what a look I got! The trail up was handled with a set of new 32/11.50-15s BF Goodrich All-Terrain TAs that performed flawlessly. I had aired them down to 10 psi and we virtually floated over the rocks. On this excursion, I didn’t find any trails that the tires were taken to the max. Very impredded.

I found an old M-416 military jeep trailer in Jan this year and made it a project with an end date of Apr 25 for Jeep Beach in Daytona Beach FL. After adding some wheel guards with storage in front of and behind the wheels and painting the tub to match my Sahara I added some Dick Cepek DC-II wheels and that made all the difference in the world. The trailer looks great and tows like it is not even there. The only issue I ran into was that the fender wells did not have the clearance for the 35’s so I built a frame from 2” square tubing and mounted the spring brackets to it to get the necessary clearance. I cannot even start to tell you how many people stopped by to ask me about the trailer and the Jeep. This is a great setup for tailgating!!!
